The story of Napoleonbestek.nl

In 2013, Fie-Anne and Marcel started selling the Napoleon collection by the Italian brand EME. They were enthusiastic about its distinctive design and the wide variety of colours in which the cutlery is available. Napoleonbestek.nl started on a small scale (from home), with a limited selection of cutlery pieces and colours. Over the years, the range was gradually expanded.

Today, Napoleonbestek.nl specialises in EME’s Napoleon collection and offers an extensive range of individual cutlery pieces, cutlery sets and serving cutlery in 19 different colours.

About EME

EME Posaterie is an Italian manufacturer of cutlery and tableware products. The company was founded in 1974 by Egidio Mori in Lumezzane, in the province of Brescia. Lumezzane has a long tradition of metalworking. In this environment, EME developed from a manufacturer and supplier into a company producing its own designs and collections.

In the 1980s, EME began developing its own products and designs. A few years later, the company started producing cutlery with coloured resin handles. This combination of metal and colour became an important part of EME’s identity.

An Italian family business

EME is a family business. Since 2006, the second generation of the Mori family has also been involved in the company’s continued development. The family is closely involved in areas including production, product development and relationships with customers, employees and suppliers. EME combines industrial production with Italian design and produces a variety of collections for the international market.

From design to production

An important characteristic of EME is that the company manages a large part of the production cycle itself. Designers and technicians work together to develop new products and models. The production process involves various stages, including forming, machining, polishing, cleaning and inspecting the metal cutlery components. EME carries out quality checks throughout the production process, including checks on shape, surface and finish. Different types of stainless steel are used depending on the particular piece of cutlery.

Quality, development and safety

In the development and production of its products, EME focuses on areas including:

  • Product development: developing new designs and product concepts.
  • Consistent quality: attention to design, production, finishing and quality control.
  • Value for money: automated and controlled production contributes to an efficient manufacturing process.
  • Safety and material selection: EME selects steel and plastics that are suitable for their intended use and for contact with food.
  • Efficient production: because a large part of the production cycle takes place within the company, EME can closely monitor the manufacturing process.

EME Napoleon: Made in Italy

The Napoleon collection combines 18/10 stainless steel with distinctive coloured handles. The wide range of colours and available cutlery pieces makes it possible to create a complete set or add to an existing Napoleon cutlery collection at a later date. The cutlery is produced in Lumezzane, Italy, making EME Napoleon a genuine Made in Italy product.

How is EME cutlery made?

The production of cutlery involves many more stages than you might expect from looking at the finished product. Stainless steel is formed, machined and polished, among other processes, before each piece of cutlery receives its final shape and finish. Because knives have different functional requirements, they also require a different type of stainless steel and manufacturing process from, for example, spoons and forks.
